  This is more than a good store. It is good because the pen selection is nice. The ink selection is broad and the paper selection is high quality. Items are not over priced. But what makes this store great is the owner, Nick. Super nice. Knowledgeable. Helpful. Amicable. Answered all my questions without getting frustrated at my ignorance. Showed me how to use my first fountain pen. Even gave me free ink when the store was closed one Saturday. Bro is a stud muffin. Support local businesses... Get "Birmingham Pen Co." tattood on your face. It'd be worth it.

  I ordered a set of five pens and they were delayed due to the holidays so they gave me a sixtj pen free. Also they replaced all the wooden boxes because they were damaged in shipping. Nick at Birmingham pens acted immediately without question for both issues. Excellent customer service! And the pens are outstanding quality and work great!

  It's well worth juggling your schedule to be here when they're open. There's a fun wall of ink - you can see the packages and a sample. There are some very bizarre inks (usually some Noodler's flavor). There's also some notebooks for purchase, and a house-brand of ink. The _Shadyside Walnut Street_ is a fabulous brown. Plus a selection of pens. My last visit there I got a Nemosine Singularity (M),. Nemosine is also a Pittsburgh company. Nick, who runs the place, is personable and a lot of fun to talk to.
