Reviews about Groutsmith Pittsburgh

It's much harder to find someone to repair and renew an existing tile job than to find someone who will do a whole new project. I used another company first but was unhappy with their work...Groutsmith cleaned out, re grouted, recaulked and sealed our tile shower and did a fantastic job. They were on time with estimate and when they came to do the job, they were courteous and Charlie worked hard the entire time he was here. Reasonably priced, in my opinion. I had no issues whatsoever through the whole process and will use them again. IMG_9266.JPG

It was the most unsatisfactory experience I've ever had with a business. I called the company and Brad, whom I assume was one of the owners, came to my house to provide an estimate. He spent half an hour at my house providing demonstrations of what he could do to clean up my slate tiles. He saw that my kitchen was newly renovated and had new cabinets and new paintings while he was there. He told me that he would not be able to strip the glossy surface off of the tiles and that tile enhancers were of limited effect. He said that the best his company could do was to clean the floors thoroughly and stain the grout to make it look nice and new. It was a good start. However, two weeks after our engagement, after I've turned down other service providers, and the night before the service were to begin, I asked him to please prepare taping up the cabinet and walls to prevent any damage from the cleaning products. I also asked what his warranty was. i.e., what happens if the grout stain comes off three months after he put it on. Other service providers who have provided the estimates told me that's what they would do. Brad wrote a curt text and told me that his company would do no such thing and his product would not damage and cabinets. We had a subsequent call after this, at which point he told me that again he would not tape up furniture and that since the cabinets are not new I should not worry about any damage. I couldn't believe it. He was just at my house and saw and was told everything was new. I asked him what he planned to do if my kitchen walls/cabinets were damaged, at which point, the night before the service were to start, he said that he didn't think it was a good idea that we do business together. He of course also told me that his company can't provide any warranty on the grout stains as he couldn't strip off the old glossy stain from the tiles. When he came to my house, he never said that the fact that the old glossy stain couldn't be stripped off could affect the quality of the new grout stain he was going to apply and that he could not provide any warranty on the new product he was going to put on. If I hadn't asked him this question, he could have gladly took $1650 without disclosing that fact. The last relevant fact? Contrary to what he initially said, he now claims thatI should consider using the tile enhancer, even though he had told me earlier that they were of no use since I am not planning to strip off the old stains.
